Reflections Week Four

This week’s class was about e-business. I thought this was very interesting, since I’ve been thinking about getting my MBA concentration in e-business. Because I’ve been working full time for two years in an IT-company with search engine optimization and different aspects of IT and e-business, I thought it would be a smart move to continue in this direction. So this weeks chapter was a good introduction into e-business for me, since this is a concept I wasn’t totally sure what covered.

The first part of the lecture was about disruptive technology. I thought this was interesting since a lot of this happened before I was even born, so a lot of this I don’t have any knowledge off, and a lot of the technologies we just take for granted. We talked about the evolution of the internet and the World Wide Web, two technologies that have changed the world and how we do business. All of this is very well connected to last week’s topic with the 10 flatteners that changed the world.

The second part of the lecture focused on e-business basics, e-business models (B2B, B2C, C2B and C2C) and how the different parts of a firms value chain is affected by e-business and technology. Since I’m an undergrad marketing major, I found the part about marketing and sales most interesting. I also enjoyed working on the group presentation that is due by tomorrow, since this was about the impact of technology and internet on a grocery store.
